Between 2017 and 2018 J.C. Penney closed more than 130 stores, they've shut down 3 so far this year, and just announced plans yesterday to close an additional 24 stores in the fall because of poor performance.

Company leaders say we can expect additional closures over the next several years. Treasurer Trent Kruse told CNBC: "I think it's safe to assume that as you roll into 2020 and future years, it's likely to see some continuation of that effort. [It's] hard to say now, but I think that's a fair read."

JC Penney has over 800 locations including one in Rochester's Apache Mall. At this point we can't confirm which stores will be closing - the company didn't provide that information.
