We've all been on bad dates before, but in a day and age with Tinder and other dating apps, you just never really know who's going to be sitting across from you when you finally hook up and meet that person.

It's smart to make a plan B with an "emergency" excuse to leave, or have a friend on speed dial to bail you out in case you don't want to be rude and straight up say things are working out... but in case things have really turned south on your date, you'll be relieved to learn about a new and helpful trend that's sweeping bars across the nation; one that could keep you out of harm's way.

At Iberian Restaurant in St. Petersburg, FL, there's a discreet sign in the women's restroom that reads "Is your Tinder date not who they said they were on their profile? Do you feel unsafe or even just a tad bit weird?" If so, the sign advises, "order an angel shot."

But you're probably thinking "If the date's going bad, why would I want to keep drinking?" Well, here's the thing; an angel shot isn't any kind of booze at all. It's actually a code that will discreetly tell the bartender you need help, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Here's how it works:

There's a couple of different ways you can order the shot to get your message across to the bartender.

1) Order an angel shot neat and a bartender will escort you to your car.

2) Ask for it with ice and the bartender will call a taxi or Uber for you.

3) Order it with lime and the restaurant staff will call the police.

So the next time your date's heading south, and you're not getting the right kind of vibes, get your bartenders attention and order one of these. It could save your life.
