Mayo Clinic Makes Amazing Donation to Help Feed the Hungry in Southeast Minnesota
There's a lot of spending that happens this time of year. Spending money on friends and family buying gifts, spending money to get to and from any celebrations, and sometimes spending money on yourself. But it's also a time of year to give to people in need and to donate your time and/or money to charities that matter to you.

The non-profits I know most about are the animal shelters in town like Paws and Claws and Camp Companion. But there are others like The Landing, The Ronald McDonald House, United Way of Olmsted County, and Channel One Food Bank just to name a few.
One of our amazing non-profits just got an amazing donation that's going to help them out a ton. Hopefully this will inspire you to donate to your favorite non-profit!
Mayo Clinic Makes Donation to Channel One
Channel One Regional Food Bank sent out a press release saying that Mayo Clinic has made a donation to their non-profit to help with the food insecurity issue we're facing in southeast Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Channel One writes, " As the cost of living continues to rise, more families are struggling to afford basic needs, making food assistance more important than ever."
This is an important time of year for them to receive a big donation, too, because the holidays are one of Channel One's busiest times. They mention in their press release that in the three days leading up to Thanksgiving this year, 2,202 households visited for help putting food on the table.
That number is a 34% increase compared to last year around Thanksgiving and a whopping 83% increase compared to 2022.
It's really sad that so many people in our area are struggling. But Mayo Clinic is helping provide some relief with a $200,000 donation.
Channel One writes, "[We hope] Mayo Clinic's example will shed light on this situation and inspire others to help make sure neighbors facing food insecurity have enough nutritious food, especially during the holidays."
