Two Minnesota Pizza Shops Named Some of the Best in the Country

It's hard to go wrong with pizza. Having a bad day? Pizza. Having a great day? Pizza. And luckily for us Minnesotans, Minnesota is officially home to two of the best pizza shops in the entire country for 2024.

The list of the 100 best pizza shops was put together by "elite reviewers" at Yelp.

What is Yelp Elite?

This was the first time I had ever heard of Yelp Elite. Turns out, you can become part of the Yelp Elite Squad if you'd like. Here's what the Yelp Elite Squad is all about:

"The Yelp Elite Squad is a diverse community of passionate writers, photographers, and adventurers. Every experience you share on Yelp helps people discover the best of everything local."

So if you're passionate about those things and enjoy trying new places, you can actually apply to become a Yelp Elite.

Now back to the pizza.

Best Pizza in the Country

So based on these Yelp Elites, we have the 100 best places for pizza in the entire country.

To determine the rankings, they looked at "the total volume and number of 5-star reviews each business had that were written by members of the Yelp Elite Squad." The businesses also had to have been marked at 'open' on Yelp as of December 5th, 2023. The businesses also had to have a passing health score, when available, as of December 5th, 2023.

Best Pizza in Chicago (and the Entire Country)

Not surprisingly, many of the places that made the list are in New York City or California. The number one spot, though, for the best pizza in the country goes to a place in Chicago called Pequod's Pizza.

They sell classic, deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza.

Best Pizza in Minnesota

The Minnesota locations that made the list didn't make the top 50 but that's ok! Getting on this list in general is amazing.

Coming in at number 79 is Surly Brewing in Minneapolis.

I can confirm that they have some incredible pizza.

And then coming in as the 84th best pizza spot in the country, second best in the state, is Pizzaria Lola in Minneapolis.

I've never been but I always hear really good things. I'll have to try them out sometime soon!
