New Minnesota Law Says Large Events Must Offer Water to Attendees
Plenty of new laws took effect in Minnesota on July 1st, 2025, but there's one I didn't learn about until recently that's interesting to me.
New Minnesota Laws That Took Effect July 1st, 2025
Some of the new laws that went into place on July 1st include:
Motorcyclists are now allowed to lane split in Minnesota. This means that motorcyclists are allowed to drive in between lanes of traffic, but only if both lanes are traveling in the same direction and the speed is no more than 25 mph.

Another big law that went into place is that you must have a permit to operate a boat in the state now.
This is something that's being rolled out very slowly, though, so only certain ages need a permit today. In a few years, everyone will need a permit, though. (I've got the details in the story below.)

Another law that took effect that I wasn't aware of until now has to do with water at large events.
Large Events in Minnesota Are Now Required to Have Free Water
As of July 1st, 2025, ticketed events with 100 or more people are required to provide free water to attendees and allow attendees to bring in a factory-sealed bottle of water if they would like. This is something that lawmakers have been pushing for in our state, according to KARE 11.
This should have been a thing a long time ago! So many times you go to an event and everyone knows that people will buy water, so they charge an insane amount for it.
Now, if you're going to a large event that you bought a ticket for, free water HAS to be provided, which is great! Especially if you're going to an outdoor event in the heat of the summer.
