How to Spot the Northern Lights

When I first saw the Northern Lights, it wasn't what I expected at all. I thought there was going to be streaks of green and purple in the sky, like all of the pictures you see.

Crazy enough, that's not how they actually appear. (The reason it comes out like that in pictures is, at least for me, because I put my phone in night mode.)

When you see the Northern Lights with the naked eye, they look like white wisps in the sky. Sometimes it'll look like the white wisps are 'dancing' like the Northern Lights are described to do.

At one point, when I saw them, there was a short time where they actually looked very faintly green, but that was it. I'm sure the further north you go, the brighter the colors would be to the naked eye.

Obviously, the further north you are, the better chance you have of seeing them.

If you do go out to see if you can spot them, remember to look for the white wisps, and don't be too quick to go back inside! It's a pretty amazing thing to see.
