One of the World’s Most Beautiful Streets is in Illinois
When a road isn't just a road.
When a street, boulevard, or lane doesn't qualify as this, either.
According to a new study from Architectural Digest, only a handful of streets are labeled as the "most beautiful."
While this street in Illinois was listed, a road in Colmar, France, took the top spot and is well-earned.
The French street, a true masterpiece, seems to have been plucked from a painting, with its vibrant colors and picturesque charm.
France has two streets in the top 10 on the list.
For the US, only streets in New York City, Miami, Telluride, and Boston are in front of us in Illinois.
The street that gets the love from Architectural Digest in Illinois is in Chicago.
With the towering skyline on one side and the shore of Lake Michigan on the other, DuSable Lake Shore Drive is the perfect way to take in the Windy City. Grant Park, Museum Campus, and Soldier Field are set along the expressway, and the 18-mile Lakefront Trail runs parallel to the busy street for those who wish to explore on foot.
Lucky for us in Rockford, we can head to Chicago to enjoy Lake Shore Drive.
Having experienced Lake Shore Drive firsthand, I question its status as one of America's 'most beautiful'. Is it a case of beauty being in the eye of the beholder, or does it truly deserve this honor?
Is it a stunning street from a bird's eye view but doesn't quite live up to the hype on ground level, or is it a well-deserved accolade?
