Recall: Sharp Plastic Found In Chicken Possibly Sold in Minnesota

Recall - More Plastic Found In Our Food!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Foster Farms, in Farmerville, Louisiana, is recalling approximately 148,000 pounds of fully cooked frozen chicken breast patty products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials.

The product was sold in Costco in other states and MAY have been shipped to Minnesota Costcos as well.

This is the second time in as many weeks food has been recalled due to extraneous materials.

What's the Extraneous Material In This Food Recall?

The FSIS says the Foster Farms chicken product has hard clear pieces of plastic in it. Like last time, it was consumer complaints that brought the issue to the forefront. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, even though the plastic pieces are reportedly sharp and could easily cause injury.

Which Foster Farms Chicken Products Are Recalled?

The fully cooked, frozen, breaded chicken breast patty products with a best-by date of Aug. 11, 2023.

80-oz. plastic bag packages containing 20 pieces of “CHICKEN PATTIES BREADED CHICKEN BREAST PATTIES WITH RIB MEAT” with best by date “08/11/23,” establishment number “P-33901,” and lot code “3*2223**” in inkjet print on the back edge of the packaging as well as “7527899724” under the barcode.

These items were shipped to Costco distribution centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah, and Washington, and may have been further distributed to Costco retail locations.

While the warning doesn't specifically include Minnesota, other Costco locations might include our state, so best to double-check. The FSIS is worried some product may be in your fridge or freezer, so please check and if you have it, toss it (or return it to Costco).
