Adoptable Rochester Dogs Proven to Reduce Your Anxiety, According to Experts
The National Institute of Mental Health reports that anxiety disorders are one of the most common mental disorders in the US. But on top of the medical diagnosis of an anxiety disorder, we all, at the very least, have times of stress in our lives.
It's never any fun, but there's always tools to help with stress and anxiety. One of those tools might be spending time with your pets, or animals in general.
Dogs, in particular, can be amazing at helping ease our stress and anxiety. However, dog experts say that there are certain breeds that are better for reducing stress and anxiety than others, according to Newsweek.

Dog Breeds Best at Reducing Stress and Anxiety
Each of these dog breeds typically have a calm demeanor and have a proven track record of making great therapy animals.
Of course, I feel like I should note here, that just because a dog is a certain breed doesn't mean all dogs that are that one breed will display the exact same behavior. Just like people have different personalities, so do dogs. It will also depend on what the dogs life was like prior to entering your family. So keep that in mind!
The dog breeds that they say are the best for reducing stress and anxiety are:
Golden Retrievers
Greyhounds
Labrador Retrievers
Newfoundlands
Poodles
As you might be familiar, Paws and Claws and Camp Companion are two animal rescues in Rochester with many cats and dogs looking for loving homes. And it turns out, they have some dogs that fit into one of those breed categories.

It's not always known what the dogs history is, so, again, just because the breed is typically calm doesn't guarantee that this one particular dog will also be calm. If you're interested in any of these dogs, you'll need to meet them in person before making the right decision for you.
Also, keep in mind, these dogs will need time to adjust to their new living situation (they say it takes an average of 3 months for a dog to fully adjust), so their true colors may not shine through for a little while.
Ok, onto the dogs!
