Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was arrested last week after punching a police officer got himself into more trouble when he went after two deputies.

A felony assault charge was filed against 45-year-old Joseph Rodriguez last week after the incident with the Rochester officer.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Scott Behrns says Rodriguez appeared in court on that charge Thursday and became “verbally abusive” while before the judge. Behrns says as he was being taken back to his jail cell, Rodriguez began fighting with the two detention deputies. He kneed one in the nose and the other deputy suffered a thumb injury trying to get him under control. One of the deputies eventually tased Rodriguez and he was subdued.

Rodriguez was also tased during the earlier incident with the city police officer.

He is expected to face another felony assault charge as a result of this latest incident.
