Rochester Man Stabbed During Reported Monday Night Melee
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man ended up at the hospital Monday night to be treated for stab wounds he apparently suffered during a reported melee.
Police officers were sent to the Gates of Rochester apartment complex around 11:30 pm after several callers reported a large fight was taking place outside one of the buildings.
Police Capt. Casey Moilanen says they were told about 20 males were involved in the brawl and a caller reported hearing one of them say something about a gun. There was also a report of a possible stabbing.
Moilanen says the crowd broke up before officers arrived but a car seen leaving the area was stopped. A 25-year-old man who was in the car was arrested for having a gun without a permit.
While at the scene, police were contacted by Olmsted Medical Hospital where a man had arrived to be treated for stab wounds to his buttocks. The injuries were non-life threatening.
Moilanen says the 21-year-old man told officers he was in an apartment when the fight broke out and was stabbed when he tried to break it up.
Moilanen says it's not known who was involved in the melee or what it was about.
