Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It appears Rochester will have a public outdoor swimming pool in operation this summer.

The city Parks Dept. kept its two pools closed last summer because of the pandemic.

Under a plan reviewed by the Park Board Tuesday, only one pool will be open this summer.

The board approved an agreement with the Rochester Swim Club Orcas to operate the Soldiers Field pool. Under the agreement, the city will absorb operational losses up to $10,000. The city and the club will split losses that exceed $10,000. If there is a profit, the proceeds will be split 70% Orcas, 30% City.

A $9200 loss was recorded in 2019.

Department staff will work with the club to ensure that COVID-19 Safety protocols are followed.
