Southeast Minnesota Woman Dominates on Jeopardy!
It’s been an exciting week for TV viewers in Southeast Minnesota, with two local women shining in the national spotlight.
First, Cori Kennedy, a talented singer from Kasson, Minnesota, wowed everyone on The Voice Monday night and chose her idol, Reba McEntire, to be her coach on the hit singing competition.
Now, we’re celebrating Lisa Mueller, an anthropologist and online instructor from Rochester, who looked right at home on the Jeopardy! stage during today’s episode.
How Lisa Mueller from Rochester Got on Jeopardy
Getting on Jeopardy! is not easy. Contestants have to jump through a lot of hoops just for a shot at playing.

It starts with the Jeopardy! Anytime Test, which more than 100,000 people take each year. Those who pass are placed into a random drawing, and if selected, they’re invited to audition. From there, if they impress producers, they’re placed into the contestant pool — where they could be called to compete anytime within the next two years.
I’m not sure if there’s any kind of special training after you’re selected, but Lisa looked like a total natural.
Rochester Woman Competes On Jeopardy
Lisa was cool, confident, and quick on the buzzer. She took an early lead and never gave it up, nailing trivia and staying sharp through every round.
By Final Jeopardy!, she had racked up over $17,000 and held a commanding lead. Now, she’s returning as champion on tomorrow’s episode!
You can watch Lisa compete again on Jeopardy!. She'll defend her title on Thursday, October 2nd. Viewers in Rochester can see it on KIMT at 4:30 PM.
