The Waseca County Sheriff shared a letter to the public about social media and social distancing yesterday. Sheriff Brad Milbrath cited social media pictures of residents gathering in large groups or not maintaining proper social distancing as the reason for writing the open letter to the residents of Waseca County.

In the letter Sheriff Milbrath cites photos on social media of people "golfing, riding in golf carts, gathering on front porches, riding ATVs, and group gatherings at other locations" of people not from the same household. Milbrath wrote that while the activity may seem innocent enough it isn't until you "spread COVID-19 to someone you care about; grandparent, parent, child, grandchild, coworker, or daycare child" that could be life-threatening.

Sheriff Milbrath also reminds Waseca County residents to not only properly social distance but to wash their hands for the good of Waseca County residents.

The letter ends with the punishment for those found to be violating the Governor's executive orders, up to 90 days in jail or a $1,000 fine.
