What to Expect When Minnesota’s Valleyfair Amusement Park Opens This Summer
After a year of reading about nothing but cancelations and closings, I was excited to see that Valleyfair Amusement Park in Shakopee, Minnesota will be opening the summer of 2021. There will be some major changes though - Not all rides will be available and there will be new policies in place to keep people safe.
The park released a statement on their website that said they are excited for opening day and will continue to "monitor state guidelines and work with industry and government officials to ensure our reopening plan meets all required health and safety regulations."
So when is Valleyfair opening in 2021? The park says there will be several changes when the park opens to the public on May 22, 2021, including:
- Guests must preplan their visit before coming to the park.
- At least one member of your group will be required to have the park's mobile app on their phone.
- Everyone above the age of 2 will be required to wear facemasks.
- Screenings and temperature checks will be required before anyone enters the park.
Valleyfair will also promote hygiene and social distancing with signs throughout the park. These signs will encourage people to wash their hands frequently, avoid touching their face, and keep their mask on at all times.
Not all rides will be open. The park says, "Some areas, rides, and attractions are not conducive for social distancing and are closed for now." The rides will be cleaned frequently and social distancing will be required when waiting in line for rides.
