Wisconsin Man Gets Minnesota Lottery Ticket for Christmas and Wins Big

Delane Emery, of Webster, Wisconsin, claimed a huge jackpot on Wednesday at the Minnesota Lottery's headquarters.

Emery, 31 and a newlywed, was one of two million-dollar winners in the lottery’s annual Millionaire Raffle game on Jan. 1st.

Emery told lottery officials that his parents hand out lotto tickets every Christmas.

Delane said he was half asleep when his step-mom called to remind him about the ticket and tell him to check his numbers, "We had two tickets, and I read off the number on the first one. She said, ‘That’s the one! You guys just won $1 million!’ ”

Emery said, “it’s a very nice way to start out [marriage], with not a lot of worries.”
