Alert for People Parking in Downtown Rochester
Several people have contacted the Rochester Police Department about startling encounters in a downtown parking lot. At least two people have been approached by a man who "seemingly came out of nowhere." One said the man knocked on their car window. The other report noted that the man asked for money.
The parking lot manager is working with RPD. As for those that park in this area, they have been contacted by the manager and have been advised by RPD to immediately call 911 about any suspicious behavior or encounters.
As of now, the man sounds like he is only asking for support when approaching others, but is startling people. There have been no reports of aggressive or unlawful actions at this time.
This isn't an article that is posted to scare you, but it is a good reminder to be on alert when getting out of your car - especially true for people like us who often get to work when it's still dark out.
