The National Weather Service is saying a spring snowstorm could deliver several inches of heavy snow across Minnesota and Wisconsin just days after much of the region experienced record-breaking high temps. 

I was really enjoying those summer-like days so I was pretty bummed to see another round of cold snowy weather in the forecast. Will this be winter's final blow? I'm cautiously optimistic because I've lived in this area long enough to know that snow in May is possible. Read what the NWS is predicting for Sunday for Minnesota and Wisconsin below.

Go ahead and put the shorts and flip-flops away and dig out your jacket. You'll need it when you're shoveling or snow blowing on Monday morning.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse posted an updated snowfall prediction to its Facebook page. The weather experts there say this storm will dump wet heavy snow across Minnesota and Wisconsin.

There could be school cancellations and other weather delays because the heaviest of the snow is expected to fall late Sunday into early Monday morning. If there are any closings for postponements we'll provide updates on this site.

Blowing and drifting will also be a problem in open areas. The National Weather Service says winds will be gusting at 35-45mph.

How Much Snow For Wisconsin?

Several inches of snow is possible in parts of Western Wisconsin. The NWS map below shows the chance of 4 inches or more on the left and 6 inches or more on the right.

As you can see, there's a good chance that western Wisconsin will get 4+ inches of snow with the chance for more than 6 inches above 50% for several towns including Black River Falls, Tomah, and Medford.

How Much Snow For Minnesota?

The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities says Wisconsin will get the heaviest of the snow but does say Minnesotans will be shoveling on Monday and could experience some difficult travel conditions.

The latest forecast for Rochester, Minneapolis, and Duluth calls for 1-3 inches on Sunday with another 1-3 inches on Sunday night.
