Prince is one of the most iconic people to ever come out of Minnesota. This weekend marks 2 years since his untimely death. Last year Minnesota made his legacy an official Minnesota holiday when Governor Mark Dayton declared April 21st as Prince Day.

“Prince and his phenomenal talents led an era of music and showcased Minnesota to the world,” Dayton said. “This day, we honor a magnificent artist, celebrate his great legacy, and thank him for always making Minnesota his home.”

This weekend they will be celebrating in his honor at Paisley Park with musicians and speakers performing and events through Monday. Even the 35W bridge will be shining with purple pride all weekend.

They kicked off the celebration last night at Target Center (a day early to avoid the playoff game for the Twolves) with PRINCE: Live on the Big Screen.  The other celebration events will take place at Prince’s historic home and recording sanctuary outside Minneapolis. This event will welcome fans from around the world into an inspired environment of live music, panel discussions and special presentations highlighting Prince’s tremendous talent, influence, and importance as a composer, musician, producer, live performer and filmmaker.

You can even check out his private estate and state-of-the-art recording studio with a Paisley Park tour. Get the event details on the Paisley Park Celebration page.
