Almost Unsurpassed, Minnesota is the 15th Fittest in the Nation
What kinda shape is Minnesota in? Not a mitt, that's for sure. HA! Just kidding. That's Michigan. A new study says we're the 15th for In-Shape-States in the nation. A recent study shows nearly 50% of Americans put on weight during the COVID-19 pandemic. That's info from the National Library of Medicine.
Your Pants Feel Tight? You're Not Alone.
The CDC has reported 13.8% of adults in the USA are in poor health overall. One in three Americans are obese and 1 in 9 have diabetes.
America has long been among the fattest countries, and it got worse with nearly 50% of Americans putting on weight since the pandemic.
RunReviews.com released a study on the states in the Best and Worst Shape using the most recent data from the CDC on obesity, diabetes, heart disease, medical checkups, and number of gyms in all 50 states and D.C.
These are the six categories they looked at and how Minnestoa fared against the national average.
- Number of gyms: 13.3 per 100,000 residents, (national average: 12.3)
- Exercised in Last Month: 80.9% (national: 76.9%)
- Obesity Rate: 30.7% (national: 32.1)
- Diabetes Rate: 8.8% (national: 10.8%)
