Minnesota Gold Medalist Will Carry Flag During Closing Ceremony
What an incredible honor, and the opportunity of a lifetime.
Afton, Minnesota's own Jessie Diggins has had quite the experience in PyeongChang during the 2018 Winter Olympics, and it's only going to get better. Earlier this week she took home the first Olympic gold medal in women's cross country skiing in 42 years by beating runner-up Sweden by an incredible 0.19 seconds! You can see the thrilling finish HERE.
And now according to USA Today, Diggins, who teamed with Kikkan Randall, was chosen today by her fellow Olympians to carry the flag in Sunday’s closing ceremony! On top of that, she's the first cross-country skier to be chosen as the U.S. flag bearer for the closing ceremony. Pretty damn awesome, if you ask me. Way to make us Minnesotan's proud Jessie!
Both she and teammate Kikkan Randall's race is something you have to watch because it is truly spectacular - you can watch the replay of the race here.
