The average American household is expected to spend around $58 on Halloween candy, according to a recent survey by financial site Empower. $58 might seem like a lot, but it’s nothing compared to what one Halloween-loving Minnesota man is spending.

Mike Wade, a veteran from Nevis, Minnesota, goes all-out every year to make Halloween unforgettable for local kids. For the past five years, he’s made sure each trick-or-treater at his house walks away with five handfuls of candy.

A lot of Americans end up overspending on Halloween candy simply because they buy it too early. I saw it on store shelves back in August and immediately said, “Nope!” I know I don’t have the willpower to stash it away until Halloween, and it turns out, most people don’t either.

According to a recent survey by Talker Research, most families have to reload their Halloween candy stash twice before the big night. Mike Wade isn't one of those people, and $58 is nothing to him.

This year, Wade took things to the next level, ordering $5,000 worth of candy online. The shipment was so massive that it required a special delivery van. But according to the Bemidji Pioneer, it all disappeared before Wade could get home to bring the massive delivery inside.

According to a report by Willmar Radio, Wade didn’t file a police report but did reach out to Amazon, who told him there was nothing they could do.

Thankfully, there’s a sweet ending: Wade’s credit card company fully refunded the purchase. He’s already ordered a replacement batch and is now back on track to deliver a magical Halloween experience for every costumed kid who comes knocking.
