Tis the season for garage sales! The best time of year! I love the hunt for a good deal when you're out shopping at garage sales. Plus, you never know what you're going to find.

Coming up this weekend in Rochester, Minnesota, is one of the biggest garage sales of the season. What's even better is that the money from this garage sale helps local animals in need.

Before we get into the details about this garage sale, let's talk about some tips from a bargain-hunting pro.

Tips for Shopping at Garage Sales

That bargain-hunting pro would be me! And I also got some tips from HGTV.

The first tip is to make sure you wear comfy shoes. Especially if you're going to be out hitting up a lot of garage sales.

Second: Bring some water and a snack or two. You don't want to get hungry and have to stop in the middle of your shopping!

The third tip is to make sure you've got some cash. A lot of garage sales are fine with Venmo these days but having cash on hand just in case doesn't hurt.

Fourth tip: Bring a tape measure if you may be buying some bigger items. You want to make sure it's going to fit where you want to put it because you can't make returns at garage sales.

And the fifth tip is to do two laps of the sale. That way if something catches your eye you have a second lap to see if it catches your eye again. It also gives you time to think if it's actually something you need or want. Also, the second lap allows you to look through everything again because it's very possible you missed something the first time.

Paws and Claws Rummage Sale this Weekend

Coming up this weekend is the annual Paws and Claws Humane Society Rummage Sale! This is one of Paws and Claws' biggest fundraisers of the year so if you want to help the animals that are in their care, this is a great way to support them.

The sale features all kinds of items for sale, like books, home decor, furniture, and pet items. The sale will be held at the Olmsted County Fairgrounds, building number 44. They'll be opening for bargain hunting on Saturday, June 1st 7 AM - 4 PM and Sunday, June 2nd 8 AM - noon.

Sunday is also the bag sale day! When you arrive you'll get a bag and anything you can fit in it is just $6. All other items will be half off on Sunday.
