We Now Know When this New Gourmet Popcorn Shop Will Open in Rochester

I was walking downtown over the weekend and noticed a new sign I hadn't seen before. I didn't even recognize the business but it appears they'll be opening in downtown Rochester, Minnesota soon! It's a new gourmet popcorn shop near the Peace Plaza.

Where is the New Popcorn Shop in Rochester, MN?

When I was driving downtown on Thursday I saw that the signs that were up for Essence at the corner of 2nd and 1st downtown were suddenly gone. Then on Friday, I saw that there were new signs going up for a business I hadn't heard of before. It's just a block from the Peace Plaza down the street from where Hefe Rojo used to be.

What is the Popcorn Shop Going Into Downtown Rochester, MN?

I was walking downtown Saturday night and saw that the signs were all up and one said 'Coming Soon' so I grabbed a few pictures.

The place is called Popus Gourmet Popcorn. After a quick Google search, it turns out this place is from Illinois.

They only have two locations in Illinois and it looks like Rochester will be their first outside of the state. While their website says nothing about the Rochester location, I know it's the same popcorn shop because the logo is the same.

So all I know right now is that it's 'Coming Soon' and they'll be at the corner of 1st and 2nd downtown. But I'll be excited to try them out once they do open!

**UPDATE: I got a message on Facebook from a listener who says they know the owners. She said the opening date for Popus is Monday, November 14th! I reached out to the business to confirm and will update this when I hear back.
