Red Lobster With 11 Locations in Minnesota Considers Bankruptcy

Red Lobster started 56 years ago in Lakeland, Florida. It was small with only a few locations originally, but in the 1980s, it blew up and the chain expanded nationwide. Today, there are about 650 Red Lobster restaurants, with 11 in Minnesota.

But lately, things haven't been so great for them. The restaurant, famous for its unlimited shrimp deals and cheddar bay biscuits, is having a tough time and might even have to declare bankruptcy.

Did you know the lobster on Red Lobster's logo is their mascot and has a name? Delish says his name is Clawd. "You know, like the French "Claude" but punny-er."

Red Lobster Considers Bankruptcy

According to Bloomberg, Red Lobster's finances have taken a hit due to expensive lease agreements and high labor expenses, along with other problems. Filing for bankruptcy would give them a chance to continue operating while they figure out how to reduce their debts.

It's uncertain what the implications of bankruptcy would be for the nearly 650 Red Lobster locations. Until the company announces plans, we can't know for sure if locations will be closed.
