Well technically the store provides the food, your kids can feed themselves. Saturday morning, I needed a few groceries so I made a quick trip to the West Circle Dr. Hy-Vee. When I returned to my car to unload everything there were just as many items to throw away as their were to take home.

Shopping is tough when you're a kid, just ask Llama Llama. Did you know Hy-Vee offers snacks to keep kids happy and distracted while you shop? When you first walk in to the store you'll see a help-yourself-bucket full of oranges and bananas. And by the time your kid eats their fruit you'll be at the Bakery, where you can ask for a free cookie. Then as your checking-out the cashier has a stash of candy, and as you're leaving make sure to stroll past customer service to grab your kid a free balloon to keep them entertained as you pack your stuff in your car.

I also recently learned about Hy-Vee KidsFit. It's fun at-home program designed for kids and families to help promote exercise and nutrition. Check it out at hy-veekidsfit.com. The website provides online video tutorials, recipes, dietitian blogs and fitness challenges.
