If you need your caffeine fix, there's now another place you can get it in downtown Rochester.

I never was a big coffee fan-- UNTIL I started the overnight shift right after I graduated college when I was working at a radio station back in Wisconsin, that is. Yeah, right about 3 a.m. I needed that extra jolt of joe to make sure I didn't doze off while playing Garth's newest hit. (Hey, it was the 90's!)

My coffee addiction only intensified when I started doing the morning show, which meant that my alarm clock started ringing each morning at about 3:45-- which it still does to this day. So, yeah, coffee is pretty much a necessity for me.

Even if you don't get up that early, a little cup of caffeine sure makes the morning better doesn't it? Which is why it's pretty cool that Rochester's latest coffee shop is opening Wednesday morning. I'm talking about Cafe Steam's latest location, in the new One Discovery Square building on 2nd Avenue and 4th Street downtown. (It is literally across the street from our Townsquare Media studios!)

According to a post on their Facebook page, Cafe Steam opened for business Wednesday morning at 6:30. It'll also be opening again Thursday at 6:30 for a 'soft opening,' and will officially mark their grand opening in the shiny, new One Discovery Square building on Tuesday, September 3rd.

This new location is actually Cafe Steam's fourth here in Minnesota's Med City, and its opening comes hot on the heels of Cafe Steam opening their third location, inside the new Thesis Beer Project's taproom on 2nd Street, just a few blocks west of Highway-52. Their other locations are their original shop on South Broadway, as well as a second location in the Doubletree Hotel skyway.
