Here’s the Soonest You Could See the Twins at Target Field This Year

While the Major League Baseball lockout continues, here's the earliest we might be able to see the Twins at Target Field this season.

The word came down late Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 1st) that the greedy billionaire Major League Baseball owners' latest offer to the just-as-greedy millionaire Major League Baseball Players Association was rejected, and that this year's season would NOT start as scheduled.

I've not been following the specifics of why the billionaire owners started the lockout last year, and why they and the millionaire players can't seem to get a deal done that would keep the season on track.

It seems a little tone-deaf, given how many Americans have been negatively impacted financially by the pandemic the past two years both here in Minnesota and across the country, that the baseball players (who make millions) can't come to a labor agreement with the owners (who make billions), doesn't it?

Either way, though, Major League Baseball said Tuesday it would now cancel each team's first two series of the 2022 season, meaning the season will now have a maximum length of 156 games-- and could lose more if an agreement isn't reached soon.

For our Minnesota Twins, that means Opening Day on March 31st isn't happening, and the Twins' previously-scheduled opening road trip to Chicago to take on the White Sox on March 31, April 2nd and 3rd is also canceled. And, the Twins' second road trip to Cleveland to take on the newly-named Guardians on April 4th through April 6th, is also not happening.

So, the soonest we might be able to see the Twins is Thursday, April 7th-- which was the original date of this year's Home Opener at Target Field. The first pitch is set for 3:20-- IF the two sides can come to an agreement soon. (But I'm not holding my breath for THAT to happen anytime soon!)
