Imagine how cool it would be - a phone call from your fave presidential candidate. Sounds too good to be true, right? It is. Don't fall for it. Scammers are taking full advantage of this let's just call it, unique, election year.

The BBB is out with the warning: this is happening in our area. During the phone call, a recording says that rivals have been raising a lot of money, and "in order to see your favorite candidate elected, you need to donate immediately."

That sounds urgent, you should give them your credit card info - NO! Don't' do it! If you offer to give, they transfer you a live person who then proceeds to take your credit card info. Which of course, is not used to support the political calls, but instead they steal your money, maybe even your identity. Be careful!

Have you received a call like this? The BBB asks that you report it. Click here to go to the BBB Scam Tracker page.
