Undated (KROC AM News) -  A traffic stop that took place early Monday in Houston County led to gunfire and a 15-mile-long police chase.

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, two La Crescent police officers noticed two men who were acting suspiciously at a Kwik Trip store around 1:30 a.m. The men left in a car and the officers followed them a few miles and pulled them over in Hokah. Moments later, the officers were fired at and they returned shots.

The men took off on Highway 44 at speeds over 90 mph. They stopped the vehicle in Caledonia and ran into a field but were caught right away.

The BCA says one of the men was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and then taken to jail. It’s believed the injuries were gunshot-related wounds to his neck. The officers were not injured. The men are facing attempted murder charges. Their names have not been released yet.

A section of Highway 44 was closed to traffic for several hours as it was classified a crime scene.
