This year's display opens this weekend and will feature 4.5 MILLION Christmas Lights. Clark Griswold would be proud! Each year thousands of Minnesotans make the journey up north to celebrate the holiday season in Duluth.

According to the Star Tribune, the display was was started in a local business owner’s yard in 2001. It's grown each year and now the "Bentleyville Tour of Lights" is the largest free lighting display in America. Nathan Bentley told the newspaper, “There’s a lot of stress getting it open every year. Once it’s open, then it makes it worth its while. People come through and they talk about how amazing it is.”

A 128-foot “tree” will serve as the centerpiece. It'll be lit up red and green with over 150,000 LED lights.

Looking for an awesome Christmas display closer to home? Every year, I take my family to Mankato. Sibley Park in Mankato is decorated with over 1.5 million LED lights. For more on that including some pics I took with my kids, click here.
