Readers Digest just wrote about the best free tourist attraction in Minnesota and it isn't the Mall of America or the Spam Museum.

The Magazine says:

The "Land of 10,000 Lakes" (you can see all of them at no charge) offers visitors a wealth of experiences. The Minneapolis Institute of Art consistently ranks in the top 10 of America's best museums and is free all the time.

General admission to MIA is always FREE. However, there are some special exhibits that require a paid ticket. Like this one, 'Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters' which you can see through May 28th. Here's a sneak peek:

According to MIA's website, "more than a half-million people visit the museum each year, and a hundred thousand more are reached through the museum’s Art Adventure program for elementary schoolchildren."

The Museum is closed Mondays and open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m.–5 p.m. on Sundays.
