Sheriff IDs Father and Son in Southern MN New Year’s Day Shooting
Eagle Lake, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the father and son involved in a New Year's Day shooting in the Mankato area.
A statement says 30-year-old Andy David Douglas allegedly shot his father in the arm, causing a potentially life-threatening injury. The Sheriff's Office says 59-year-old Jeffrey David Douglas remains hospitalized in stable, but critical, condition.
The investigation has determined the father and son, and an adult woman, lived together in a mobile home in the town of Eagle Lake. The woman was at the residence when the shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. but she was not injured.
The Sheriff's Office says Andy Douglas was taken into custody at the scene and is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault. The statement says "The circumstances leading up to and during the shooting remain under investigation."
