Researchers found that just seeing the Facebook logo sets off "spontaneous pleasure cravings" in your brain.

The study was conducted by researchers at Amsterdam’s Vrije University and proves Facebook can be JUST as addictive as cigarettes and/or chocolate. Dr Guido van Koningsbruggen told The Sun: “Failures to resist social media temptations may eventually negatively affect well-being."

This isn't the first time we've heard how Facebook can be bad for you...

Livescience.com published an article two years ago explaining how a social media addiction can be harmful:  "Facebook can hurt a woman's body image, allow people to obsess over a failed relationship and even lead some people to fall into depression. In fact, so many people end up feeling left out after seeing pictures of friends at a rooftop party or eating opulent meals, for example, that there's even a word for it: "fear of missing out," or FOMO."
