Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has entered into a plea agreement involving a brutal attack on a Rochester woman last year. 57-year-old Joseph Colon admitted to 3rd-degree criminal sexual conduct and a domestic assault by strangulation through a deal that resulted in the dismissal of two other felony charges and a gross misdemeanor.

Colon was arrested last June after Rochester police found him in the apartment of a woman who was transported to St. Marys Hospital with suspected facial fractures and other injuries. Police reports say investigators determined he had followed the woman home and then forced his way into her apartment where he assaulted her.

The original response to the residence was for a medical emergency because the woman used a medical alert device to signal she needed help after she was able to lock herself inside a bathroom to protect herself from Colon. Police say the two knew each other through a prior relationship.

Colon is scheduled to be sentenced on November 14th.
