Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Stewartville man was caught speeding in Rochester last week - 40 miles per hour over the speed limit.

A Minnesota state trooper clocked a Dodge Charger at 103 mph near the 40th St bridge on South Broadway around 6:30 AM Friday. The speed limit in that area is 65 mph. The driver immediately slowed down and pulled over when he saw the trooper.

The driver - 28-year-old Joshua Pettey - told the trooper he was speeding because “a driver behind him was tailgating him so he hit the gas to get away.”

He was issued a misdemeanor speeding ticket Monday and ordered to court for arraignment next month.
