According to a new survey, 35% of parents have to readjust their finances, at the end of summer, after blowing their savings on entertaining their kids.

The survey reveals the average parent spends $495 to keep their kids happy over the summer vacation. That breaks down to $319 on toys and activities, and another $176 to take them on trips.

When you factor in daycare, the number rises significantly.

Close to 10% of parents say they have to start saving for summer at least 6-months in advance.  And no matter how much you spend your kid will still complain about being bored! The average child says they are bored by 1:30 every day in the summer.
